Welcome to my Réti Opening (ECO A05) game with Tim (Kingfisher)  page!

On this page I have posted one my chess games in which I played the White side of the Réti  Opening . The game includes analysis and diagrams. This is the first game that I finished at Stan's Net Chess. My rating at this became 2121 after this win.

1. Nf3 d5 2. g3 c5 3. c4

Reti Opening after 3. c4

Here I'm hoping that Black will play 3... d4 which will allow me to transpose into a Reversed Benoni. He sidesteps that idea.

Bg4 4. Bg2 Nc6 5. b3 Nf6 6. O-O e5 7. d3 h6 8. Bb2

Now, instead of a Reversed Benoni we have transposed into a more traditional Réti Opening.

8... Bd6 9. Nbd2 e4

Now, because the Black King is still in the Center it is time to open up the Center and try to exchange Queens.

10. dxe4 dxe4 11. Bxf6!

This wins at least a Pawn! If 11... Qxf6 then 12. Nxe4 forks the Queen and Bishop winning the Bishop on d6.

Black can't save the Bishop on d6 so he decided to trade the Bishop for the Knight on f3 too. Avoid trading pieces when down material. You want to trade pawns instead.

13. Nxd6+! (Wins both Bishops.) Kf8 14. Bxf3 Kg7

Black has "castled by hand" and White is up a Bishop and a Pawn. So, I decided to mop up on the Queenside and to try to force the exchange of Queens.

15. Nxb7 (Wins a Pawn & exchanges Knights.) Qc7 16. Qd6!

Now, Black has to trade Queens and Knights. White is now up a Bishop and 2  Pawns here.

Rac8 17. Bxc6! (Forces the exchanges that I want.) Qxd6 18. Nxd6 Rxc6 19. Rfd1 Rd8?

I cannot believe that Black walked right into this trap.!

20. Nf5+! (Wins the Rook for a Knight after Kg6.) Kh7?? (Loses the Rook outright.) 21. Rxd8 h5 22. Rd6 Rc7 23. Rxf6 Rd7 24. Rh6+ Kg8 25. Rxh5 f6 26. e4 Rd6??

27. Nxd6 1-0
