White: PapaThunder (1457) Black: Mike Serovey (1057)
1. e4 c5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bb5

This is the start of the Nimzovich-Rossolimo attack. There
are several good replies for Black but, I decided to force the issue and
make the Bishop move or capture on c6.
a6 4. Bxc6 bxc6 5. d4 cxd4

White has the lead in development here and can castle any
move now. Black has undoubled his pawns, though.
6. Qxd4 d6 7. O-O Bd7 8. Nc3 Nf6

Black is finally getting some Kingside development
going!
9. e5 c5 10. Qf4 dxe5

Black is still lagging in development and now has 2
isolated pawns on the Queenside.
11. Nxe5 e6 12. Re1 Be7 13. g4 h6

As a rule, you should castle your King by move 10. Black
doesn't get to castle until move 14. White has a strong Kingside attack
going here and Black has no counter play.
14. Ne4 O-O 15. g5 hxg5 16. Nxg5

Black is in trouble here. White is putting pressure on both
f7 and h7 and Black is having trouble defending both squares. Black still
has no counter play here.
Nd5 (Black wants to trade off some pieces here to
lessen White's attack.) 17. Qh4 Bxg5

Black took away the mate threat on h7 but still has other
problems to deal with, such as the White Queen's control of the h file.
18. Bxg5 f6 19. Ng6!

Now White is threatening to check on h8 and to capture the
Rook on f8 winning the exchange. White is playing for the checkmate, not the
win of material.
fxg5 20. Qh8+ Kf7

White can win the exchange by playing 21. Qxf8+ Qxf8 22. Nxf8
Kxf8 leaving White with a Rook versus Bishop & Knight. Instead, White goes
for the mate.
21. Qh5 Rh8??

Black offers the exchange to get rid of the White Queen and
Knight. However, Black overlooks the discovered check when White captures
with the Knight on h8. Better was 21... Rg8 allowing 22. Ne5 double check.
22. Nxh8+ Kf6 23. Qf7# 1-0
