Welcome to my
Grob Attack games page!
On this page I display links to my chess games in which I played either
side of the
Grob Attack. The games include analysis and diagrams. I will
place the actual games on separate pages listed by the opponent played.
The Grob Attack is also known as the Spike and is similar
to the Polish Opening or Orangutan Opening in that both openings start with
moving a Knight Pawn two squares and fianchettoing a Bishop. White usually
plays 1. g4 and 2. Bg2 but will vary that depending on what Black does on
moves 1 and 2. Here is an example of how the Grob Attack can begin:
1. g4 d5 2. Bg2 Bxg4 3. c4

White will attack the c4 square and along the a8 to h1
diagonal. Black can capture on c4 or defend d5.
